STRETCH-A-SELF

finger puppets, arts and crafts, margaritas, knitting for peace, air piano, heady heidi the cactus, and spiritual insight into the stretching of the self- I mean A self
Playing in the Band
-The Grateful Dead-

Some folks trust in reason
others trust in might,
I don't trust in nothing
but I know it come out right.

Say it once again now
woah--I hope you understand
when it's done and over,
a man is just a man.

Playin', playin' in the band
daybreak--daybreak on the land.

Some folks look for answers
others look for fights,
some folks up in treetops
just a looking for their kites.

But I can tell your future
just look what's in your hand,
but I can't stop for nothing
I'm just playing in the band.

Playin', playin' in the band
daybreak--daybreak on the land.

Standing on a tower
world at my command
you just keep a turnin'
while I'm playing in the band.

And if a man among you
got no sin upon his hand
let him cast a stone at me
for playing in the band.

Playin', playin' in the band
daybreak--daybreak on the land.

Q and A from self to Self

Q and A with myself in Top Shack to pass the time… (transcribed from my writing on the back of the Deer Valley Daily Groomed Run Report)

Q: What is Nature?
A: Nature is a cycle made up of smaller cycles within larger cycles, and ultimately the largest cycle. Creatures and plants all find a way to relate to the overarching cycle and this adaptation is what makes up the smaller, more seemingly individual cycles. Everything is related to the Absolute.

Q: What is the Absolute?
A: The Absolute is by definition Unmanifest, but it is the source out of which the Manifest, the world of perception, arises. The Absolute is the initial perfection that allows for a realm such as the manifest to exist at all. The Absolute is everything we have the capacity to be aware of, and more.
Picture it like a giant electro-magnetic field that contains within it all the potential for all of creation. The opportunity to “get it” is always present because it is that which makes up the Field that we find ourselves in. Picture it like a radio, radio waves, static, sender and receiver, transmitter, and electricity. What we as humans have the unique capacity to do is tune our individual bits of self to a higher radio station. Whether we “get it” or not is somewhat impersonal and arbitrary from the Field’s perspective. The Field is not harmed by our ignorance one-way or the other.

Q: How do you get into good space? Space where your whole life comes into perspective? The expanded presence?
A: Space like that is at the front of the moment.

Q: How do you raise the collective level of consciousness?
A: With a movement that is made up of the sum of all its parts. When all the smaller waves synch up they reach critical mass and form an over-wave, thus stretching the morphic field of your species. Picture it like the Wave at a baseball game, then translate that phenomena into a metaphysical analogy and you’ve got it.

Q: What happens when the Overwave comes?
A: Perception goes wrong, perception goes RIGHT! People can be zapped into higher frequencies when they are in the presence of teachers and individuals who already hold a higher vibration.

Q: What does it take?
A: Three Things: The integrity of the message, the integrity of the speaker, the integrity of the audience.

Q: What is time like in the Golden Shores?
A: Sense of time, as it is experienced subjectively, is different. It is an expanded presence because nobody has any idea what a 12-month calendar is. (The moon goes around the earth 13 times a year after all, doesn’t it?). There is no arbitrary way to mark progression in the Golden Shores because nobody is trying to get anywhere because nobody is still under the illusion that “progress” as we think of it is even a possibility. Everything is perfect and wonderful as it is. This is very apparent in the Golden Shores. Time is witnessed through the cues of the seasons, and the idea that there is some particular starting point with some particular ending point in inconceivable.

book and a pancake

(Levi and Nate at the Sidecar, every other Tuesday)

Will somebody help me sponsor a Marathon Reading party? We’ll all go to a park somewhere at 1 in the afternoon and read the same book until 1 in the morning. Then we can nap for a little and then get up and have a pancake breakfast for everyone and talk about it. Maybe even mimosas.

In addition to Power vs. Force, we can read others too. I just think that Power vs. Force would be such a great book to stimulate new conversations on new levels of clarity. The inspiration for this idea comes from Naropa’s Summer Writing program which is sponsoring an On The Road marathon read June 30th in Boulder. I think I’ll be there, how about you?

Let’s get some ideas. What do you think would be a good book to marathon read with a bunch of people?

The Eagle and the Hawk

I am the eagle, I live in high country
In rocky cathedrals that reach to the sky
I am the hawk and there's blood on my feathers
But time is still turning they soon will be dry
And all of those who see me, all who believe in me
Share in the freedom I feel when I fly

Come dance with the west wind and touch on the mountain tops
Sail o'er the canyons and up to the stars
And reach for the heavens and hope for the future
Be all that we can be and not what we are .
