the good life
the good life
railroad earth
they got tired of livin’
in an apple going black
went up the mad river valley
and they never looked back
way up the mountain over campell ridge
up an old loggin’ road
‘cross an old mill bridge
they built a little house out of
stone they found
put their backs to the plow . . put
their seeds in the ground
water from the spring runnin’ plenty and good
from a hardwood forest . . choppin’
fire from the wood
oh . . they’re livin’ the good life
oh . . livin’ the good life
they got bread in the oven, got
books on the shelf
they’re lookin’ deep into each
others’ eyes deep into themselves
pursuin’ ideals with grace and style
and they’re makin’ ends meet with
their huckleberry guile
oh . . they’re livin’ the good life
oh . . livin’ the good life
way up the mountain over campbell ridge
up and old loggin’ road . . cross an
old mill bridge
they built a little house out of
stone they found
put their backs to the plow and
their seeds in the ground
they’ve got the power of the sun
the strength of the soil
they’re finding peace in their hearts and
faith in their toil
oh . . they’re livin’ the good life
oh . . livin’ the good life
oh . . they’re livin’ the good life
